Karen received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1990. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in 1970 from the University of Bridgeport, CT and a degree in Nursing in 1980. She practiced as a R.N. in Critical Care for 10 years before becoming an attorney. Karen practiced as an attorney, first with a law firm and then as a solo practitioner for 7 years, before returning to healthcare as a risk manager in 1997. She received her NEHA Risk Management certification in 1997 and her CPHRM designation from ASHRM in January 2006. Karen left healthcare risk management in December 2006 to join WLI as an Assistant Vice President and Claims Manager of its new satellite office in Providence, Rhode Island.
